Dometic Re-Releases Journeyman Ute Tub Power System for Australian Touring

Dometic has re-released the Journeyman Ute Tub Power System, bringing the vehicle-based power solution back with Australian assembly and 5-year warranty.

Originally released in August 2025 the re-release brings new Dometic product branding and an expanded accessories range, including vehicle-specific mounting kits and cable kits.

For Australian tourers, tradies, campers and 4WD owners, the idea is simple: a more integrated way to power essential gear from the back of a ute, without needing to build a complete electrical setup from scratch.

The system is designed and engineered for ute tubs, with a pre-wired layout that reduces install time, saves space and simplifies cabling.

Built for Ute-Based Touring

The rise of ute-based touring has changed the way many Australians travel.

A dual-cab is now the kitchen, tool box, battery hub, communications centre, recovery platform and weekend camp setup, all in one.

That demands a power system built for the job.

Journeyman is that system. It is a compact, pre-wired power solution engineered specifically for ute tubs, giving owners a single integrated hub for running touring, work and camping gear – on the road, at camp, or fully off-grid.

What Is the Dometic Journeyman?

The Dometic Journeyman Ute Tub Power System is a ready-to-install unit built for one job: powering a touring ute properly, from day one.

It runs a 2000W 230V AC transfer inverter with a built-in RCD safety switch that protects everything plugged into the 230V outlet.

Alongside it sits a 40A+ DC-DC vehicle and solar charger with MPPT, supporting up to 800W of solar input at 45 VOC, a 12V cigarette socket, twin 100W USB-A and USB-C sockets, and a 230V power outlet.

Every Journeyman is designed, engineered and assembled in Brisbane, Australia. Built from the ground up for Australian conditions. It carries a five-year warranty and lifetime Australian technical support, backed by a national Dometic fitter network that can confirm the right mount, cable length and battery pairing for your specific setup.

Journeyman is listed at AU$4,890 RRP inc. GST, with pricing set by authorised dealers and stockists.

Vehicle-specific mount kits are available now for the current-generation Ford Ranger and Volkswagen Amarok, with a HiLux-specific kit in development. A Universal Mounting Kit covers other dual-cab utes today. Cable kits are sold separately.

Why the Re-Release Matters

Journeyman is the first product to reach the Australian market under the unified Dometic brand.

Effective 2 June 2026, Enerdrive is Dometic. The Australian mobile power business continues under Dometic Mobile Power Solutions APAC – the same Brisbane-based engineering team, design standards and warranty backing that built Enerdrive’s reputation, now operating under a global brand.

Enerdrive has been the name Australian caravanners, 4WD owners and off-grid travellers trust for lithium batteries, solar, inverters and chargers. That engineering pedigree doesn’t change under Dometic, it scales. Products like Journeyman now carry the backing of a global brand while keeping the local design, local assembly and local support that built the trust in the first place.

Journeyman is Built to Compete at the Top of the Market

Build quality, local support and proven reliability under real touring conditions.

Brisbane design and assembly. Journeyman is designed, engineered and assembled locally, by the same team responsible for Enerdrive’s reputation in the 4WD and caravan market.

National fitter network and lifetime Australian technical support. Every install can be matched to the right mount, cable kit and battery pairing by an authorised Dometic fitter, with technical support that doesn’t stop at the point of sale.

Five-year warranty. A cover period that reflects confidence in componentry engineered and tested for Australian heat, dust, corrugations and vibration.

This combination is what sets Journeyman apart.

A Cleaner Build, From the Ground Up

Space is the biggest constraint in any ute build. By the time drawers, a fridge, recovery gear, water storage, tools and towing accessories are in, there’s little room left for a clean power installation – and even less room for mistakes.

Journeyman removes that risk. The integrated layout brings every major power component together in one pre-wired unit, cutting loose cabling and giving installers and owners a system that’s straightforward to plan around, not just squeeze in.

For travellers who use their ute as part of a caravan touring setup, this can be especially useful. The caravan may have its own battery system, but the tow vehicle still often needs to power a fridge, charge devices, run work gear or support overnight stops when the van is not connected. Journeyman gives the ute its own power hub.

Who Journeyman Is Built For

Journeyman is built for owners who want a complete, properly engineered vehicle power system.

That includes 4WD tourers building a ute tub or canopy setup, caravanners who want a fully powered tow vehicle, tradies who need dependable mobile power during the week and camping power on weekends, and families who want the ute to stay useful the moment the caravan is unhitched.

What unites them is the assurance of a system engineered, assembled and supported in Australia, backed by a fitter network and a five-year warranty that stands behind every install.

The Bigger Picture

Vehicle-based power has moved from afterthought to essential infrastructure for Australian touring. The tow vehicle is doing more work, carrying more gear and covering more of the trip than ever – and the power system behind it needs to match that shift in reliability and capability, not just convenience.

The Journeyman re-release is a clear marker of what the Enerdrive-to-Dometic transition delivers in practice: proven Australian engineering, now carried by a global brand, with the same Brisbane team, the same warranty standard and the same commitment to local support.

For Australian travellers building a touring ute, the power system determines how long you can stay off-grid, how reliably your fridge runs, and how confident you feel a long way from a powered site.

The Dometic Journeyman Ute Tub Power System delivers that confidence.

Journeyman is now the first Dometic-branded ute power system in the Australian market. Engineered and assembled in Brisbane. Backed for five years. Built for the way Australians travel.
