Overview

The compact, off-road KOR Everest hybrid caravan suits adventurers who prioritise manoeuvrability and comfort, with an electrically operated roof hastening setup and minimising drag on tighter tracks on the way to camp.

Up against rivals in the Jawa Sirocco, Austrack Tanami X15B and the Lumberjack Mt Beauty, the KOR Everest carves its own niche features for the campsite chef embracing the outdoors.

Terrain Tested

🏜️ Sand Dunes⛰️ Rocky Climbs〰️ Corrugations💦 Water Crossings

📍 Test Location: Loveday 4×4 Adventure Park, South Australia.

Is the KOR Everest right for me?

The KOR Everest supports adventurous couples or small families tackling challenging trails to remote, private camps with a smart, flexible layout requiring next to no setup at camp.

A beautiful external galley kitchen with a fixed inbuilt pantry and slide-outs, also seen on the new generation KOR Peak, serves as a true campsite centrepiece—one that’s easy to pack for faster getaways.

While the uptick tail and compact hybrid body keeps things neat off-road.

Layout, Comfort & Liveability – Will it fit my lifestyle?

The KOR Everest’s efficient and practical interior, inspiring the latest KOR Peak, maximises comfort without compromising off-road capability.

Interior layout & living space

Inside the front-door layout, holidaymakers can start the day with a cuppa at the breakfast bar towards the front near a cosy living and dining area in view of a TV.

The large bed towards the rear together and a flip-down single opposite the entry provide a flexible sleeping configuration for couples or families. The dinette also converts to an extra berth.

Comfort & practicality

Campers’ vans at heart, both the KOR Everest and newer KOR Peak feature an external kitchen setup that’s easy to pack for a long weekend.

Lifting a gas-strut panel under the awning reveals a deep Nano stainless sink and a retractable goose-neck faucet, a Thetford three-burner cooktop, benchtop space—with access to 12V and 240V outlets—and organised compartments, concealed behind roller doors and sleek overhead lockers.

Slide-outs provide access to a barbecue and a fridge. While an external ensuite tent fixed at the rear, away from the entry, forms the bathroom layout plumbed to Truma rapid hot water and twin 120L freshwater tanks.

Build, Features & Off-Grid Performance – Can it handle my adventures?

KOR’s robust build blends proven Cruisemaster suspension with a clever raising-roof design for genuine off-road agility.

🏕️ 💨 Sand & Corrugations Test

Objective: The Sand Moguls rigorously assesses suspension travel, body flex and stability at speed.

Observations: John Gestakovski driving for KOR Campers, hit the hot, dusty sand moguls with the Everest in tow. John maintained the right momentum and flow over the ruts and dips, taking it “steady” to find his rhythm.

What We Found:

  • Component Damage: The KOR Everest remained unscathed.
  • Caravan Reaction: The Everest behaved predictably, following John “without any sudden movement”, showcasing its “well-balanced” nature.
  • Component Response: The “good departure angle” comfortably cleared the big ruts and dips.

🌊 💦 Water Crossing Test

Objective: The water crossing evaluates water resistance, clearance and the operational integrity of electric brakes.

Observations: John approached the water crossing strategically ‘airing up’ the Cruisemaster XT Air suspension, providing “plenty of clearance” for the descent. John hit the water with a massive splash, charging “like a bull at a gate”.

What We Found:

  • Component Damage: Our crews spotted no damage.
  • Caravan Reaction: The Everest powered through the water with impressive force, emerging on the other side without issue.
  • Component Response: The remote-controlled Cruisemaster XT Air suspension easily adjusted for the crossing.

🪨 Moguls & Ruts Test

Objective: The Vantec Caravan Graveyard evaluates departure angles, suspension behaviour, articulation, momentum and track adherence.

Observations: With his family, ‘precious cargo’, aboard, John navigated the KOR Campers Everest through the Vantec Caravan Graveyard. The approach? Control, not speed, to prove the van’s safe handling and capability. Despite the bumpy ride, the crew successfully completed the obstacle, exclaiming “We did it!”.

What We Found:

  • Component Damage: There was no damage reported during this section of the obstacle course.
  • Caravan Reaction: The Everest handled the uneven terrain well, coming out of the challenge “like a dream”
  • Component Response: The suspension and chassis proved robust in the face of the demanding moguls and ruts.

💨 🌀 Traction through Bull Dust Test

Objective: The NCE Abyss rigorously assesses traction and stability in extremely loose, soft sand and bull dust conditions.

Observations: Piloting the KOR Campers Everest, John tackled the NCE Abyss with a calculated approach. Acknowledging the “very soft” and “tight turn”, he leveraged a “little bit of momentum” before confidently applying power.

What We Found:

  • Component Damage: There was no visible or reported damage to the caravan during this test.
  • Caravan Reaction: A little bit of sideways action easily came into line, thanks to the pop-top design’s lower centre of gravity providing a “bit of stability”
  • Component Response: By adjusting the suspension John enjoyed greater clearance and more travel over these harder obstacles

Chassis, suspension & build

The KOR Everest utilises a TIG-welded aluminum square tubing frame, high-density fire-resistant PVC foam insulation finished with 1.5mm fiberglass inner skin. Its exterior features 3.3mm aluminium composite panel cladding, 2.5mm aluminium checker plate protection and a reinforced vacuum-pressed fiberglass sandwich roof with high-density foam.

The Everest’s supple Cruisemaster XT Freestyle airbag suspension easily handles corrugations and tight corners with stability and ease. While twin axles shod here in Goodride mud terrains also helped deliver surefooted towing.

Power & Water

  • 200Ah lithium, 2025 spec
  • 400W Solar, scalable
  • DC-DC charging
  • 2x 120L freshwater tanks, 80L grey

Rivals at a glance
