Overview
The JB Gator X 1710 is a nimble single-axle off-grid tourer for couples who demand serious power without the size, competing with the likes of the Zone RV Base 16.6, Bushtracker 17ft Single-Axle and AOR Sierra 16.
Indeed, our crews thoroughly enjoyed air-conditioned comfort off the grid in South Australia’s searing heat, thanks to the sterling new JB Gator X spec comprising a 5kW EcoFlow power system with a 412Ah lithium battery—nothing to sniff at, given the nimble 17ft 10in layout.
But power isn’t the only gain for this single-axle stunner. Sporting JB’s 2025 Gator X specification, we also see a striking modern exterior, a one-piece fibreglass roof, and front and rear panel construction—just one of many evolutions underway. Let’s check it out.

Layout, Comfort & Liveability – Will it fit my lifestyle?
The Gator X layout delivers a spacious and functional living space in a compact footprint.
Interior Layout
This rear-door design accommodates a full-width ensuite towards the rear, a sleeping configuration with a north-south bed up front, and a café dinette midship opposite a charming galley kitchen.
Diffused LED perimeter lighting, pleasing modern cabinetry furniture, and deluxe stone benchtops cultivate an airy, opulent ambience from the moment you step inside.

Comfort & Practicality
The kitchen setup is practical and attractive, with stone benchtops featuring a heat-resistant thin-skin coating that’s tough enough to withstand hot pots. It also includes a four-hob cooktop, oven and grill, and a Dometic 216L compressor fridge.
Opposite, the living and dining area features café dinette upholstery that looks supportive and smart thanks to the beautiful twin diamond-stitched panels.
The bathroom layout is fully equipped, offering extensive cabinetry, a stylish sunken sink, and a wide mirror nestled between a shower with a mirror door and separate toilet.

Build, Features & Self-Sufficiency – Can it handle my adventures?
From its tough Raptor-coated chassis to its mighty 5kW EcoFlow system, the Gator X is built for serious off-road, off-grid adventures.
Chassis & Suspension
Being off-road, the JB Gator X rides on Cruisemaster ATX Airbags and coupling, upgradeable to the Body Control System that levels up the van at camp.
Also among the notable changes, the Raptor Coating on the chassis and A-frame plus chip proofing on the skirt.

Power & Water systems
For 2025, JB RV Group boosted its electric capabilities across the board, with the JB Gator X range acquiring the mighty 5kW EcoFlow Battery Management System with a 416Ah lithium battery bank, and 10kW/832Ah on the Gator X EV specification.
The system is supported here with an 800W solar array, teamed with the 3600W inverter, to run appliances like air-conditioning and the narrow yet deep Dometic 216L compressor fridge off-grid.
Gas cylinders for the four-hob cooktop, oven, and grill happily support your off-grid adventures. Water tank capacities are 2 x 95L freshwater tanks plus a 95L grey water tank.

Storage & exterior design
New for 2025, JB introduced a thoroughly restyled toolbox comprising three handy open compartments and safe storage for hoses and the like. That’s forward of the lockers with slide-outs for fridges, barbecuing utensils, or genies.
While at the rear, narrow storage accommodates poles and fishing rods beneath the spare tyre and tie-down trays for timber and a jerry.
