Exploring The Kings Canyon Rim Walk Circuit
We sent our enthusiastic influencers for Design RV Jack and Britt along with their guide to explore this amazing attraction. This circuit takes you on a 6-kilometer journey, allowing you to explore the natural beauty and stunning landscapes of the area.
Hike Duration And Fitness Requirements
Here’s a breakdown of the key points and highlights of the walk: The Rim Walk is approximately 6 kilometres long and can take around 3-4 hours to complete.
Conquering The Initial Ascent
The walk begins with a challenging section that involves climbing around 500 steep steps. While this may be physically demanding, the effort is well worth it for the experiences that await.
Experiencing The Sandstone Panoramas
Once you’ve reached the top of the stairs, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking scenery that is unique to this area.
Navigating Priscilla’s Crack Formation
The journey continues through Priscilla’s Crack, a location made famous by the Australian movie “Priscilla Queen of the Desert”.
Discovering The Lost City Domes
You’ll arrive at the first lookout, offering panoramic views across the canyon. This vantage point allows you to appreciate the unique and stunning sandstone domes that resemble an ancient city, known as the Lost City.
Descending Into The Garden Of Eden Oasis
At this point, you have the option to continue exploring the top of the rim or descend a staircase to the Garden of Eden. The Garden of Eden is a picturesque area filled with lush greenery and a sacred watering hole. A secured bridge provides a crossing over the watering hole, allowing you to immerse yourself in the serenity.

Planning The Best Time To Visit
The best time to experience the Rim is Sunrise. The sun reflects onto the sandstone and creates a stunning array of orange and red hues. Tours can be arranged by the concierge at the desk of Discovery Resort – Kings Canyon.

Booking Scenic Helicopter Flights Over Watarrka
It didn’t take Tania much to convince Roger to get up in this super helicopter for a spectacular bird’s eye view over King’s Canyon. Professional Helicopter Services offers three different King’s Canyon experiences.

Comparing Flight Durations And Itineraries
The 8-minute Canyon Dash is great for those with a restricted budget or who are time-poor. But why take an 8-minute flight when you can spend 15 minutes above this 440 million-year-old landscape? This flight gives you time to enjoy the scenery and hear historical facts about the area.
The penultimate tour is the 30-minute King’s Canyon and George Gill Range Helicopter Experience. Discover the grandeur of Kings Canyon in the heart of the Australian outback from the comfort of a helicopter. From here, you’ll cruise along George Gill Range to Petermann Pound, where you might be lucky enough to see camels and brumbies in their natural habitat, before returning via Back Canyon.
Roger was delighted to be part of this amazing tour. Our thanks go out to Professional Helicopter Services for their wonderful guided tour and their knowledge of this land that is more vast than we could have ever imagined from the ground.
