Wyangala Bonfire and Fireworks Spectacular 2026

Fifteen Years of Fire, Community & Country Spirit

Looking for something worth the drive this June long weekend?
The Wyangala Bonfire and Fireworks Spectacular 2026 is one of regional NSW’s best-kept secrets – a free, community-run event near Cowra with a full day of live entertainment, a massive bonfire, and a fireworks display that punches well above its weight.

On Sunday 7th of June 2026, Wyangala comes alive for one of the Central Tablelands’ most anticipated annual events.

Families roll out picnic rugs early. Kids make the most of the daylight. The smell of woodfire drifts across from the dam. And as the temperature drops, the crowd settles in for a night that brings the whole community together.

This isn’t just a fireworks show – it’s a proper country event, built by locals and backed by community spirit.

A Full Day Out (Not Just a Night Show)

The Wyangala Fireworks Spectacular kicks off from around 10am, with a full program of activities leading right through to the evening finale.

  • This is a BYO event. Please practice responsible consumption of alcohol and respect that this is a family-friendly event.

As the afternoon rolls in, the bonfire is lit around 4:30pm – a proper centrepiece moment – before the main event begins.

From around 6:30pm, the sky above Wyangala Dam lights up with a fireworks display that delivers far beyond what you’d expect from a regional event.

Built by Community – And It Shows

What makes this event stand out isn’t just what’s on – it’s how it comes together.

Run by a volunteer committee and supported by local businesses and donors, the Spectacular draws crowds of around 4,000 people each year from across the Central Tablelands and beyond.

Entry is completely free, but it’s very much a community-powered event. Donation points and fundraising on the day help ensure it can return year after year – something that matters more than ever for regional events like this.

If you’re a business looking to get involved, sponsorship opportunities are available through the Wyangala Country Club.

Worth the Drive

Set against the backdrop of Wyangala Dam, this is one of those events that feels bigger than it should – in the best way.

It’s relaxed, family-friendly, and genuinely welcoming. Whether you’re coming from Cowra, Orange, or making the trip from further afield, it’s the kind of event that reminds you why regional Australia does community better than anywhere else.

Bring your camp chairs, pack an extra layer, and make a day of it.

Make a Weekend of It

This is prime Central Tablelands touring country. If you’re towing the van or heading out for a winter escape, it’s the perfect excuse to turn a day trip into a full weekend away.

There’s no shortage of camping spots, country pubs, and quiet roads to explore – exactly the kind of travel that makes events like this even better.
