Why William Creek Hotel Is an Outback Legend

That’s how the publican at William Creek Hotel describes his iconic pub. But don’t be fooled by its location or its low-key facade – this place has a million things going for it.

First of all, there are charter flights to and from the pub. We wouldn’t want anyone drink-driving, so the William Creek Hotel has a service whereby you can jump on a plane and be delivered to the pub. Or better still, if you’re staying in the caravan park that the pub has installed, you can take a flight around the region and see the amazing, world-renowned Marree Man or Kati-Thanda Lake Eyre, or Dalhousie Springs, just to name a few of the local attractions.

Then there’s the pub – the winner of several tourism awards because of its service, charm, and true touch of the outback. Nothing changes here and yet everything changes. That might not make sense, but sitting inside the pub it feels the same as it has for years. But Trevor White and his team have upgraded the pub and brought it into the 21st century – so to speak – by adding diesel and unleaded petrol pumps plus Wi-Fi … and who doesn’t need that these days?

Stay and Play in the Heart of the Outback

The hospitality at this pub is second to none. That’s why so many people return. There’s the restaurant offering hearty meals with Australian wines – true outback hospitality.

Accommodation & Facilities

Accommodation is varied. The William Creek camping ground is located a short walk from the William Creek Restaurant and Pub, offering powered and unpowered sites set amongst gum trees. Everything from small tents to large campervans are welcome.

Bathroom facilities are located a short walk away and include hot showers and toilets. Laundry facilities are also available at an additional charge.

There is a camp kitchen with the basic facilities, as well as the all-important dump point located next to the public toilet block. Ice can be purchased from the William Creek Pub. Rubbish and recycling facilities are located around the camp ground.

There are also cabins available for those who want a break from their vans or tents. These cabins range from a two-bedroom, self-contained cabin down to a non-ensuited room – all budgets are catered for.

Flights and Famous Hospitality

But you can’t ignore what the pub is famous for – apart from its thirst-quenching cold beer – there are the amazing flights around the area and of course the “chauffeur” service that’s on offer. Imagine being collected from several predetermined locations such as Coober Pedy and flown to the William Creek Hotel for a few nights, perhaps a night at one of the events put on by the hotel.

An Outback Experience Like No Other

We cannot speak more highly of this place – a true outback experience with genuinely great people hosting. It’s a real treat.
