Our second stop on the Dometic Follow The Sun Convoy for Charity is Port Lincoln, the “Seafood Capital of Australia”. We stayed at the wonderful Port Lincoln Tourist Park, set on the waterfront with uninterrupted views of Boston Island.
Our first day was an early and scary one for Robby and some of the caravaners, one of the “must do” attractions in Port Lincoln is shark cage diving, through the advanced eco certified Calypso Star Charters. After a 3-hour boat ride out to sea, our brave caravaners and crew began to wet-suit up and within minutes of being dropped in a cage had a once-in-a-lifetime experience, Great White Sharks were approaching within minutes. Robby described the experience as “absolutely incredible”.
Back on land, I approached Macca just as he was finishing setting up the Windsor Silhouette, he began to explain to me why this fully off-road camper is one of the best. The Silhouette includes a new patented wind up system and a one-piece roof construction capable of lifting a boat. Its durability is only one of the reasons it is one of the 8 Best of the Best.
While Macca and Robby were busy, Angie decided to go and do some town fundraising for The National Breast Cancer Foundation. Angie picked up her pink bucket and hat, walked around the town and met some locals, to not only raise some money, but awareness for such a worthy cause.
Before we knew it, it was Happy Hour time, Port Lincoln style. Port Lincoln knows exactly how to put on a show. We had some wonderful dancers from MTC Dance School put on a show, we also had some local children set up an old-fashioned lemonade and cupcake stand. As the crowd toured the Caravans they enjoyed a BBQ and relaxed to some music by our very own Ron Sinclair.
While unwinding from Happy Hour, Dave and Therese Proust gave Macca and Angie a tour of the Universal Hollywood. This luxurious caravan boasts two slide outs, two 95L water tanks, air conditioning, a pillow top mattress and double-glazed windows. There really is a reason this glamorous caravan is called Hollywood.
On our last day in Port Lincoln Robby and Angie went stand up paddle boarding, well attempted to go stand up paddle boarding. After splashing around in the bay, it was time to head off to our next stop, Coffin Bay.
