Open Sky Touring was established in 2015 by Ben Kincade and Nic McKenzie, from a breakdown in the Simpson Desert. From this, an idea spawned, and we developed the Expedition134 brand of products and have some more ideas in the pipeline. As we push to grow our range we remain just as keen on touring and being out there ourselves. On our website you won’t just find our products for sale, you will find destination and travel advice from places we’ve been, some stories and photography, advice based on what we have learned, reviews of some of our essential gear, and improvements we’ve made to the vehicles we use.
Whilst we are based in Far North Queensland where we’ve got Cape York on our doorstep, we have been branching out and doing trips, in stages, to try and visit many of the iconic Australian destinations. Already we have managed to visit some of the Vic High Country, Grampians, Tasmania, The Flinders Ranges in SA, the Top End and parts of Arnhem Land, Uluru, some of the Central Australian deserts, and the Savannah Way. Beyond a doubt, our favourite places so far are the deserts and our own Cape York.
Our Products
After putting up with compromises over the years in many storage products, we decided to have a go at building our own. The result was the awesome lightweight but tough Expedition134 box that combines all the best features that 4wd tourers, campers, boaters and experienced outdoors people look for. Our reputation for durability, quality and a product that solves a host of problems is growing rapidly with our many customers, proof of which is reflected in the reviews and feedback we receive.
As proud Aussies we also 100% make our gear in Australia and go out of our way to support other small Aussie businesses as well. Our Expedition134 storage boxes are made in Brisbane, and our unique, quick-release straps are custom made in the small rural Queensland town of Mareeba. Accompanying our own products are what we consider is other quality made gear that we have used and proven ourselves, and as we find more items that we love, this range may expand even further.
