A great day for a bike ride

Today the weather couldn’t make up its mind as to whether it wanted to poor down with rain, be dark and cloudy, sunny and windy or sunny, windy and raining all at once (it was quite confusing, but hey thats Victoria)!

Angie, Tania and a few of our caravanners took advantage of the little sunshine they had and went on a bike ride tour with Snowy River Cycling, they offer a range of fabulous cycling tours in East Gippsland in the spectacular natural landscapes of eastern Victoria, Australia. Their tour options include a leisurely rail trail tour, to fully supported cycle tour from a half day to six days.

Today was also Fireman Ron’s birthday, so we helped him celebrate down at the local pub, where we all chatted with the locals and got to know everyone a bit better (you never know what’s going to come out when you’ve had a beer or 10!). Marlo is truly a beautiful small coastal town, everyone is very welcoming and kind, so if you’re in the area have a stop over and say WUDU sent you! We end our stay in Marlo with a pub meal, we sung Ron happy birthday (its always nice when we get to sing to him, although we may have been out of tune) and ate cake (boy it was yummy!).

Tomorrow we are off to Paynesville and will be hosting another Happy Hour at Allawah Caravan and Boat Park, so come on down and meet our friendly cast and crew as well as check out our Best of the Best Caravans/RV’s and help us raise money and awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. We hope to see you there!

Travelling through tranquility

Today we drove through the beautiful farm land from Marlo to Paynesville, we have said it before and we will say it again, it is so peaceful and refreshing seeing nature at its finest, its a great time to reflect and be grateful for our magnificent country.

When we arrived at Allawah Caravan and Boat Park Paynesville, we were welcomed with open arms and shown where to go to park our caravans and find our cabins. My goodness this is one stunning park that offers amazing views of the marina. If you’re ever in the area you must check it out!

It was a busy day of packing, travelling, parking the caravans, filming another Challenge for Charity (this one was blindfolded, stay tuned), going into town rattling tins, setting up for the Happy Hour, eating dinner and now wrapping up the day ready for tomorrow. Once again, thank you everyone for opening your hearts & pockets and donating to the National Breast Cancer Foundation and helping them reach their goal of ZERO deaths by 2030!

Two exciting adventures

Today was full of two exciting adventures, exploring Raymond Island and cruising on a yacht. We were blessed with beautiful weather which added to the tranquility and serenity we experienced.

On a side note one of our team members had a Mexican stand off with a Swan that wouldn’t let her into her cabin. To say the least, the swan out smarted her for 5 minutes as she ran from one side of the cabin to the other trying to get it to move!

You may or may not know, to travel to Raymond Island from Paynesville you need to catch the ferry, we caught the ferry over and was greeted by Victor from Ride the Koalas who kindly set us up with our tout-tout style bikes, and we rode around the island trying to spot Koala’s. Did you know that Koalas sleep for 22 hours a day. We didn’t see many Koalas as you normally would as they were hidden away with their young. To wrap up the ferry trip back, we had a coffee along the water then ventured back to the caravan park for some lunch.

For the afternoon, we went on luxury yacht sailing through the water ways and saw come amazing caves, the personal tour stopped at the Metung Pub where we enjoyed a relaxing beverage before heading back.

The remaining team members who didn’t go on the Yacht were waiting eagerly for us to return (we were gone for 3 hours or so) to have the delicious dinner that our catering girls had prepared for us. Its an early night for us WUDUer’s as we pack up and leave for Traralgon tomorrow morning.

We would like to thank Allawah Caravan and Boat Park for their amazing hospitality, if you’re looking for accommodation in Paynesville hit them up, you won’t be disappointed!

Our first day is a wrap!

After a long drive yesterday for some, and a relaxing day for those who were a little smarter and arrived at Tween Waters Merimbula on Saturday (with a few stop over’s along the way), we settled in for the night with some delicious food, caught up with our hosts, caravanners and crew, to say we were all very excited to see each other was an understatement. Most of us hit the pillow early to ensure a successful nights rest and sleep for today’s adventures.

Today was our first day of filming, we like to make sure on the Summer Series that we are up and ready at 7:30 for our breakfast where we sit, eat (obviously) and given the rundown of the day’s events.

Tania, Macca and the a few of the film crew went to Kiah Wilderness Kayak Tours whilst the rest of the team unloaded the Go Make Some Memories Van holding our very exciting Raffle Prizes! If you would like to WIN one, make sure you come along to one of our Happy Hours or our Halloween Concert! For more info visit our website! From there we continued to work on what it was we needed to that day, for some it was cleaning the caravans, others checking and answering emails or making sure everything back home continues to tick over!

During the Kiah Wilderness Kayak Tour on Towamba River, a truly hidden gem in the sapphire coast! Macca and Tania had a lovely paddle taking in the beautiful tranquillity surrounding them, the wild life was abundant! Jenny the tour guide gave them a resonating statement “its nature at your own pace”. This is an experience that all ages can enjoy and feel comfortable participating in, Russel from Trakmaster had never kayaked before, he was a little apprehensive to begin with but quickly started loving it!

Half way through their journey they paddled over onto a lovely sandy beach where they enjoyed their morning tea, freshly brewed coffee and a warm muffin. Whilst on the tour you are given a brief history of the town and region which makes it that little bit more special.

Whilst Macca and Tania were on their tour, Angie and the remaining film crew ventured off into town capturing some beautiful images of what is the Merimbula Township.

To wrap up our first day we all gathered for our nightly feed at 6pm, enjoyed our delicious desert, Sticky Date Pudding (definitely the crowd favourite). We are now all cozying up for the night with a beer or wine in hand, relaxing in our chairs/caravans and chatting away with our good friends.

Venturing with Marine Life

Today is day 2 of our 5th Summer Series, Go Make Some Memories Convoy for Charity, raising money and awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation!

To say that today was magical is an understatement, a select few of the cast, crew and caravanners were taken on a whale watching cruise by Fishpen Charters, it was such a remarkable experience for those who were lucky to jump on board! Witnessing a family of whales frolicking right next to the boat, up close and personal will be unforgettable!

Unfortunately, a few of our team members were sea sick, “a family that spews together stays together”! They are looking back and laughing now!

During the time that our team members were venturing at Fishpen Charters, a few of our caravanners strolled the streets of Merimbula rattling their tins for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. We’re so grateful to all the general public of Merimbula and all travellers alike for opening their pockets and sharing their stories with us!

Continuing with the theme of marine life, Angie and Tania were treated to a spectacular drive along the foreshore from Adams Prestige Classics and Motors, before heading off to the Merimbula Aquarium and Warf Restaurant. The whole team enjoyed a relaxing (or you could say recovering) mid-afternoon walking through the Aquarium, finding nemo and other exotic fish, the weird and the wonderful.

Today marked our first Happy Hour and it went off without a hitch! It was such a fun and successful evening, our 8 Best of the Best Caravans/RV’s were on display for everyone to view and Eden Smokehouse and Mimosa Wines got involved with some delicious taste testing.

Through the Happy Hour we raised more money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation through Raffle Tickets, Merchandise and Gold Coin Donations. Congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone who attended, we had a fabulous time meeting and talking to our viewers, we hope you had a great night!

If you were unable to make it down to our Tween Waters Merimbula Happy Hour but would like to donate please click here, or if you would like to attend our future Happy Hours visit our website!

We had a very fulfilling day and in traditional WUDU fashion we end our night with a beer, wine, music and a chat with our friends!

A day full of laughter

Today was about having FUN, and boy oh boy did we ever!

As normal, we slept off last night’s shenanigans and began our day with a spot of breakfast, it was delicious might I add, we always have a great selection of bacon and eggs, cereal and fruit (oh and we mustn’t forget the coffee and juice!). As everyone finished their breakfast, Harry our Production Director gave us the low down on how today was going to play out.

We were all very excited to learn that we would be heading on down to Magic Mountain in Merimbula. This is a fantastic little amusement park for not only the kids but adults as well! There are an array of rides and activities for all ages to enjoy which definitely caught our eyes! Rides on offer are the Tube Rider, Doom Tube Water Slide, Black Hole Water Slide, Toboggan Run, Diamond Python Roller Coaster, Grand Prix Cars, Magic Carpet Slide, Jumping Castle and Mini Golf!

There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing a group of friends, new and old, young and experienced, run around an amusement park having the time of their life!

We were all pretty exhausted after our run around (trust us lugging the tube back up the hill is not an easy task! But it is a great leg and cardio workout!) and headed back to Tween Waters for some lunch and relaxation time. A few of us took a well-deserved nap, others answered emails and worked (we never stop you see), and the rest ended up down at the pub eating fresh oysters, drinking beer and enjoying great company. (The boss even brought us back some Oysters for dinner, SCORE!!)

Tomorrow we pack up the van’s, car’s and travel in our convoy to Marlo. We will be hosting a Happy Hour at the Marlo Caravan Park on the 21st October, so make sure you set time aside to come and meet us!

We’d like to thank our friends at Big4 Tween Waters Holiday Park for welcoming us into their amazing park! We have truly had a fabulous time and felt right at home.

A cruisy one

There is nothing like driving along the open road taking in the beautiful tranquility surrounding you, it’s so peaceful and refreshing seeing nature at its finest, lush green grass, birds chirping, cows mooing and the sun shining over the hill tops through the valley.

Today we packed up our cars, caravans & cabins and said goodbye to our amazing hosts for 4 days, Big4 Tween Waters Holiday Park. We travelled from Merimbula to Marlo, and what a stunning drive it was. When travelling in a convoy it is very important that everyone communicates clearly and ensures that all have understood the procedures that are about to take place, especially when the camera crew need to advance ahead (roughly 10 mins) to pick a location to pull over and film the caravans driving by the beautiful scenery.

As we travelled closer to our destination, the Marlo Caravan Park and Motel, we could see the beautiful ocean and sand dunes along the coast line of Marlo, this amazing view certainly topped off our drive. We arrived at our very welcoming accomodation and got settled in for our stay.

Now, if you have been following our Summer Series in past years, than you know that we do Challenges for Charity, this is a fun little competitive game/activity that gets the hosts and carvanners all rivalled up and ready to for some healthy competition. Todays 2nd Challenge for Charity was one that required a lot of team effort and communication (as they say communication is key)! Macca & Fireman Ron were team 1 and Tania & Prousty were team 2, this particular challenge involved one team member being blind folded and the other having ear muffs over their ears, the team member with the ear muffs had to instruct/guide the blind folded team member through hitching up the caravan (voice only, no touching)! I won’t give away who won so you will have to stay tuned and watch the episode airing January next year!

As the challenge finished up, a few of us headed down to the local pub (just across the road, very convenient) and enjoyed the stunning views off the balcony, some of the caravanners got their camping chairs out and started playing the guitar (and of course there is always singing), check out this video here by Firemon Ron and the crew! They aim to have one for every caravan before the end of the trip (they have 3 already, so 5 to go, stay tuned for all of them)!

We have our next Happy Hour on tomorrow night, so if you’re in the area make sure you come on down for FUN and entertaining night!
