The End

Today marks the end of our 5th Summer Series, Go Make Some Memories Convoy for Charity! We hope you have enjoyed following us on our social media channels, attending our happy hours and meeting us along the way, we have certainly enjoyed getting to know you all.

Our last day started once again with a delicious breakfast from our catering girls (this is important as it ensures that we all operate efficiently), Harry our Production Producer/Director gave us the rundown of the day, as normal park overlay, reflections, cooking segment and interview. The stage crew were already setting up, Dometic and the National Breast Cancer Foundation staff got involved with setting up merchandise and raffle prizes!

We had great live show filled with very talented musicians, the fireworks were amazing and the caravans had a lot of foot traffic. Thank you to everyone who has  donated along the way, every cent makes a huge difference in assisting the National Breast Cancer Foundation in reaching their goal of ZERO deaths by 2030!

Thank you to all our sponsors and supporters, we could not have done this without you!

Stay tuned, the 6 episodes will be airing in January 2017, you might see yourself on TV!

New Experience

Today was a pretty exciting day, we visited the Yea Winery, Cider and Brewery, where we learnt how to bottle wine, we went tin rattling in Yea and played riverside cricket after dinner!

Theres nothing better on a Saturday morning then starting your day down at Yea Winery, Cider and Brewery, we were greeted with, tea, coffee and hot chocolate before we were shown the process of bottling wine. Then it came to doing it ourselves (this was going to be interesting)! We had a few participants, and a few quality control (taste testers)!

First Step: Fill the wine bottle
Second Step: Finger measure
Third Step: Cork it
Fourth Step: Clean it
Fifth Step: Capsule it
Final Step: Label it

This was an amazing and unique experience, if you’re looking to visit a winery but want something different than the typical walk around then this is for you!

Once we wrapped up our tour we headed back to camp for some lunch before we went back into town for some tin rattling! What a beautiful sight it was seeing locals and travellers alike out in the sun sitting on the grass and just enjoying the simple things in life! Thank you everyone who donated.

We had a delicious Roast Pork Roast for dinner cooked by our wonderful catering girls (they are very talented), and then we all played some riverside cricket, this was a bunch of fun seeing all ages get involved, we did loose a few tennis balls to the river (hence the riverside cricket), but our trusty team retrieved them (one of our camera guys lost his wallet when he went fishing for the ball).

We now end the night with a glass of wine, from which we had bottled earlier today.

The calm before the storm

Today was our last day of travel from Yea to Nagambie where we end our 5th Summer Series, once again we hit the road in our convoy of 8 communicating every step of the way. We have formed a fantastic team of caravanner’s and crew members over the last two weeks, it has been a great pleasure working along side such amazing people.

Once we arrived at Nagambie Lakes Leisure Park we got settled in and went on a relaxing river cruise where we got to see just how big the park actually is! It was a calm before the storm, tomorrow we have our big Halloween Concert. If you’re in or near the area then come on down and enjoy a great night.

Fun and scary

Wow, today was a day full of conquering our fears and enjoying the moment! I don’t think any of us woke up ready for what we were about to experience.

To ease into the day, some of our team took a scenic flight from Bandicoot Adventure Flights on the Tiger Mouth plane, what a different perspective we were given of the beautiful region of Gippsland, then before Macca could say cya later on the first experience he was taken on the flight of his life on the acrobatics flight option! He was tossed, turned, spiralled and upside down, it was thrilling, the adrenaline was pumping and fear was know where to be seen.

The next adrenaline rush was laser tag, kids, parents and friends took each other on running around, climbing through windows, army crawling on the floor, there was laughter and screams when we were snuck up on.

The afternoons challenge was the ropes course, a 3 level course full of crazy obstacles, you ended up in the splits, cross legged, twisted and turned! It was fun, challenging and fulfilling for not only conquering our fear of heights but also being able to complete it. Macca and Tania raced for another Challenge fo Chairty, to see who could finish the first level on the ropes course in the quickest time! Stay tuned to see who won, episodes airing in January

We are excited to see what adventures we get to be apart of tomorrow!

Getting down and dirty

Today we took a beautiful scenic route through West Gippsland to the gorgeous town of Healesville and the Big4 Yarra Valley Park Lane Holiday Park. There was no mucking around, it was straight into setting the caravans up, eat lunch and off we went to Hedgend Maze.

Hedgend Maze is a fantastic place that has somethings for everyone! Their objective is to create an environment that challenges and encourages people to explore in their innate state, enhancing positive associations and expectations of physical gratification and pleasure through your senses.

Admission into Hedgend Maze allows you to enjoy full access to all of their park attractions, 18 Holes of Mini Golf , 9 Rounds of Frisbee Golf, Famous 1.2km Hedge Maze with a secret message to discover inside, Fossil Dig, Mini Native Maze, Giant Eye-Spy Mural, Agility Maze, Rainbow Lateral Thinking Maze and Chookology.

If you’re looking for more of a thrill then do what we did, experience a LIVE adrenaline fuelled version of Call Of Duty, in an outdoor battlefield. Laser Sport can be described as a combination of modern computer games and military training scenarios, where players work with a strong emphasis on tactics, stealth and strategy in order to win missions.

We got dressed in our camo gear, had our faces painted and were handed our laser guns (they were surprisingly, a little heavy), we were shown our battlefield and Tania and Macca chose their teams. Hat Team: Macca, Angie, Ron, Di and Adele, Hatless Team: Tania, Amber, Wayne, Ashlee and Bruce. This was a challenge for charity, so it was important that we got down & dirty and into character! We all had a lot of fun, we were running, army crawling, hiding behind trees and laying on the ground trying to take out the other team.

This is a great team building exercise if you’re looking for one, it takes coordination, communication and team work to win (skill is a bonus if you have it)!

We look forward to tomorrows adventures, and if you’re attending our Happy Hour in Yea, we are excited to meet all of you!

Surfing it definitely takes talent

There is definitely an elegance, grace and skill required when it comes to surfing that not everyone has (maybe you’re just born with it), and that is certainly true with one of our WUDU members! Can you guess who??

In the morning the crew spilt into 2 groups, Tania, Angie, Prousty and a few crew members went fishing and Macca, Fireman Ron, Wayne from Lotus and one of our caravanner families went surfing.

It was a struggle locating where our surf lessons were in the national park of Cape Conran (and on the way back to camp, we got lost) but once we found it we were greeted by our lovely surf instructors from Surf Shak. Once we had our wet suits on and our surf boards we walked on down to the beautiful beach, the waves were perfect for beginners and little ones. They demonstrated and informed our crew on the currents, layout of the beach and how to surf. Fireman Ron nailed it (he has surfed before in his younger years), the others will certainly need more practice but managed still managed to get up (then fell straight in) and loved every second of it (even though the water was absolutely freezing!).

When we arrived back to camp we ate our delicious lunch that our catering girls kindly make for us daily (we each have our own lunch bag that we collect each morning) as well as breakfast and dinner. Macca and Wayne filmed a cooking segment (this was very interesting, stay tuned for that airing in Jan), and the rest of us worked (we never stop) on what ever we needed to get done before it was time to set up for our Happy Hour.

Tonight was another successful night raising money and awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the caravans were never empty, Tania had a few fans asking for photos and autographs, Fireman Ron was singing (and Macca joined in) Prousty our Bush Poet was a hit and everyone who attended was so generous with their donations, merchandise and raffle ticket purchases. Congratulations to our prize winners, we hope you enjoy them and enjoyed your night with us (we will see you all at the pub shortly!).

A great day for a bike ride

Today the weather couldn’t make up its mind as to whether it wanted to poor down with rain, be dark and cloudy, sunny and windy or sunny, windy and raining all at once (it was quite confusing, but hey thats Victoria)!

Angie, Tania and a few of our caravanners took advantage of the little sunshine they had and went on a bike ride tour with Snowy River Cycling, they offer a range of fabulous cycling tours in East Gippsland in the spectacular natural landscapes of eastern Victoria, Australia. Their tour options include a leisurely rail trail tour, to fully supported cycle tour from a half day to six days.

Today was also Fireman Ron’s birthday, so we helped him celebrate down at the local pub, where we all chatted with the locals and got to know everyone a bit better (you never know what’s going to come out when you’ve had a beer or 10!). Marlo is truly a beautiful small coastal town, everyone is very welcoming and kind, so if you’re in the area have a stop over and say WUDU sent you! We end our stay in Marlo with a pub meal, we sung Ron happy birthday (its always nice when we get to sing to him, although we may have been out of tune) and ate cake (boy it was yummy!).

Tomorrow we are off to Paynesville and will be hosting another Happy Hour at Allawah Caravan and Boat Park, so come on down and meet our friendly cast and crew as well as check out our Best of the Best Caravans/RV’s and help us raise money and awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. We hope to see you there!
